Hello,

My name is Andy, I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon in the USA. It’s a fairly large city in the Pacific Northwest region on the country’s west coast, where we share a border with California and Washington State.

Ever since I can remember, I have been interested in foreign languages, people, and cultures. When I was in middle school, I began learning the German language by taking Saturday classes at the local University. In high school I was able to take daily German classes and spent half of my senior year abroad attending a German high school. I continued this interest into college where I earned my degree in the German language.

After graduation, I had time to pursue my growing interest in Asian culture and language. I became aware of an opportunity to teach English in South Korea, where I lived and taught for two years at a private training school. After fulfilling my contract there, I decided to come to China, an amazing country which I have always wanted to visit, and I am now happy to call it home. During my time here, the Chinese people I have met have all been so friendly and kind to me, and have made me feel so welcome to be here. I really enjoy taking in all the new culture here, the sights, the sounds and especially the food. I would also love to be able to speak the Chinese language someday, so I try to learn a few new words every day, and everyone around me has been so patient in helping me with that. While teaching at AMIO, my goal is to try to return all the kindness and generosity I’ve received to my students, who I feel have as much interest in my language and culture as I do in theirs.

从小我就对外国的风土人情十分感兴趣。从中学开始，我就旁听当地大学周末班的德语课。高中时选修了德语并参加了德国交换生项目。大学我主修德语并取得学士学位。

毕业后，我开始迷恋亚洲文化。在韩国一所私立学校教了两年英语。然后我又来到了中国，一个充满神秘色彩的国家。我深爱这里的一切，文化，风土人情尤其是中国美食，把这里当作是我的第二故乡。现在我在亚美欧教学，我的中国学生对我十分友好，我们相处融洽，我也期待哪一天我也能说一口流利的汉语。业余时间，我每天都学几句汉语，相信日积月累一定会成功。正如学生学英语一样，耐心，坚持就一定可以做到！
